A PMU-Based Control Scheme for Islanded Operation and Re-synchronization of DER

This article proposes a novel synchrophasor-based control scheme enabling controlled islanding, islanded operation and automatic re-synchronization of distributed energy resource (DER) in distribution network. The performance the proposed system is studied using test power model. DER controller uses centralized architecture, receiving phasor measurement unit (PMU) measurements from both transmission grids. In simulation, frequency function inside estimates calculated new formula that exploits bus voltage rectangular form (real imaginary values). computation method compared with conventional washout filter (WF) approach used by most software tools. study also discusses why unwrapped angles are necessary to perform process. evaluated deterministic stochastic load models, allowing assessment variability implementation simulation carried out leveraging rich features Modelica language Open-Instance Power System Library (OpenIPSL).
